Estate Platinum 0.84 tcw Diamond and Synthetic Sapphire Cocktail Ring, Art Deco (As-Is)

Crafted in platinum, this Art Deco cocktail ring is set with twenty old European and old single cut diamonds totaling approximately 0.84 tcw, graded G-H in color and VS2-SI1 in clarity. Four old European cut diamonds of approximately 2.85mm run down the center, accented by two 2.30mm old European cut diamonds and fourteen old single cut diamonds of 1.9mm and 1.5mm. Nine French cut synthetic sapphires frame the center in angled channels. The ring top measures 3/4 inch, with engraved shoulders, pierced openwork, and milgrain edging. Size 7.25, total weight 3.3 grams.

Old European cut diamonds are cut by hand with a small table, high crown, and open culet, giving them a soft, broad flash of light that differs from the modern round brilliant. Old single cuts have far fewer facets and were often used as accent stones to add sparkle without competing with larger diamonds. The sapphires here are synthetic, meaning they share the chemical makeup of natural sapphire but were created in a laboratory. Synthetic sapphire was produced commercially in the early twentieth century and appears in many jewels of the period. Each French cut stone is shaped to fit its channel closely, creating clean lines of blue against the white diamonds and platinum.

Please note, this piece is sold as-is: the sapphires are abraded.

With its geometric layout and contrast of blue and white, this cocktail ring is a fine choice for collectors of Art Deco jewelry and anyone drawn to period design. It makes a memorable statement piece for yourself or a thoughtful gift for someone who appreciates vintage craftsmanship.
