Selling Your Gold in Towson, Frederick, Easton, and Inwood
If you’re wondering where to sell gold, look no further than Nelson Coleman Jewelers. We are a local gold buyer who has been exchanging gold for money in the Towson area longer than anyone. Since 1856, we have strived to provide the most secure, ethical, and enjoyable experience to every customer who walks through our doors. We have extended our gold buying services to the Frederick, Easton and Inwood areas.
Unlike the majority of gold and diamond buyers, we sell directly to our own private clients and collectors. This enables us to pay you the highest possible prices for your gold, as well as your silver, designer jewelry, diamonds, watches, and coins & bullion. As local gold buyers, we strive to save each and every piece you sell us, and we only melt items when we absolutely have to whether it’s gold bars, gold coins, or gold jewelry.
How to Sell Your Gold
With our simple 3 step process, selling your gold is an easy and stress-free experience:
- Bring in your gold. We will sort through it and arrange it by type
- Leave it to the experts. If the gold purity is unknown, our experts do a quick, on the spot test to determine the gold purity.
- We weigh your gold and make you an offer!
It’s that simple! There is never a fee for our advice.
To exchange gold for money, make an appointment at one of our stores in Towson, Easton, or Frederick, Maryland, or at Bechdel Jewelers in Inwood, WV. There is never any pressure to sell, and our professional gemologists will carefully examine your jewelry and discuss what your best options are. The entire gold buying process is strictly confidential.
Discover peace of mind knowing that our store is AGS certified, ensuring the highest standards of integrity and expertise in evaluating your precious gold items.
Do I Need an Appointment?
You’re welcome to stop by anytime to drop off your gold and fine jewelry for evaluation, even if our buyer isn’t available that day. However, our buyer is typically in just once a week at our Frederick, Easton, and Inwood locations, so if you’d like to meet directly with them and receive an offer while you wait, we recommend scheduling an appointment in advance.
Our gold buyer at our Towson location is typically available Monday - Friday from 10 am - 4 pm. Dropped-off items will be securely stored and evaluated during the next available buying day, with a prompt offer provided afterward.
How Much Will You Get For Selling Your Gold?
The amount of compensation you will receive for your gold is based on the daily market value of gold depending on its purity level. The purity of gold means the ratio of pure gold to other metals. Because gold is extremely soft and malleable, it is mixed with other metals to make it more suitable for use in jewelry and other adornments.
Not sure what karat gold you have? Our guide to What Do the Numbers on Jewelry Mean? can help you decode the markings on your jewelry and identify its gold purity.
A popular purity for gold jewelry in the United States is 14 karat but you may also come across 10 karat, 18 karat, and 22 karat gold jewelry. 24 karat is pure gold and is not typically used in jewelry but can be found in gold bars, coins, and bullion.

Why Sell Your Gold?
If you're considering selling gold jewelry, coins, bullion, or bars, here are some of the benefits of working with a professional gold buyer.
Competitive Offers
We sell many of the pieces we purchase directly to private clients and collectors. This allows us to consider more than just the melt value when determining what your items may be worth.
Confidential and Professional
Our gold buying process is confidential, and our experienced gemologists and jewelry professionals can help you understand what you have and what options are available. There is never any pressure to sell.
More Options for Your Jewelry
Selling isn't the only option for jewelry you no longer wear. Depending on the piece, you may also consider repairing, redesigning, appraising, or placing it on consignment. We'll help you understand your options so you can decide what makes the most sense for you.
For higher-value pieces, we also offer consignment. Putting a piece on consignment may give you the opportunity to maximize your return rather than accepting a direct purchase offer. Our certified gemologists and jewelers can help you determine which option may be the best fit for your piece.
