Ring Sizing & Resizing Frequently Asked Questions

Many factors are taken into consideration when determining the price of a ring sizing.  The millimeter thickness of the band, the type of metal, the number of stones, how many sizes it is going up or down, and if it will be sized by torch or laser. 

Unfortunately, we are not able to give a starting price for a ring sizing without first inspecting the ring.

We price all of our repairs using industry standard pricing.

All repair services at Nelson Coleman Jewelers run on a 2-3 week turnaround time, unless otherwise noted by your sales associate. Rush services may be available for an additional fee. 

Same-day service for ring resizing is not available unless it is previously scheduled and the ring has undergone a full inspection by our master jeweler. 

Sizing a ring requires the removal or addition of metal to the bottom of the shank. We recommend not sizing a ring up or down more than 3 sizes to maintain the integrity of the ring.

Not every ring can be resized, but many can be, depending on the design and materials. Traditional metals like gold, platinum, and silver are usually good candidates for ring sizing or ring resizing. However, certain styles—such as eternity bands with stones all the way around, tension settings, or rings made from alternative metals like tungsten, titanium, or cobalt—may not be able to be resized in a traditional way.

In these cases, our jewelers will evaluate your ring and explain the best available options, which may include alternative sizing methods or custom solutions. Every ring is carefully assessed before any work begins so you understand what is possible, what will preserve the integrity of your piece, and how to achieve the best possible fit.
