Our Design Process
When you work with Nelson Coleman for your custom jewelry needs, you can expect the highest level of customer service and attention to detail. Each custom piece is unique, but the creation of your jewelry will typically take between 4 to 6 weeks, at which point we’ll be able to manufacture your new piece and ensure everything is correct.
Our process involves the following steps:
One-On-One Consultation
During your consultation, we will discuss your vision for the piece of jewelry you would like to have created. We will also take measurements and discuss any other important details.
Computer Aided Design (CAD)
After your consultation, our designers will use computer-aided design (CAD) to create a 3D model of your piece. This allows you to see what the final product will look like before it is even created. We want to create the perfect piece and bring your ideas to life, so providing you with this mock-up will give you an opportunity to tweak the design before we produce it!
Custom Wax Model
After you’ve approved the sketches, we’ll create a three-dimensional wax model of your design. This will give you an extremely accurate preview of the final product. At this stage, we want to make sure that the rendering is becoming the piece of jewelry you truly want.
Casting & Finishing
Once you’re happy with the wax model, we will create a mold and cast your piece in the precious metal of your choice.
We take extra care to bring out the shine and detail in every metal product. Our gem setters hand-set each stone with precision and artistry before it goes under our final examination. We want to make sure that the design meets or exceeds your expectations in every way.
