Not many people know this about me, but I’m afraid to fly. Yet twice a year I lug my over-packed carry-on suitcase over my head, strap myself down, and spend 8 terrifying hours suspended above the Atlantic Ocean.
It’s all worth it once I get to Antwerp. While I’d love to spend my time there admiring the Baroque architecture and colorful streets with a waffle in hand that isn’t why I’m there. I spend my days in one of the most beautiful cities in the world locked inside a vault, surrounded by armed guards, examining thousands of diamonds one by one. Some days I don’t even see the sun. To me, that’s even better than sampling all the Belgium chocolate I can eat. Because I’m picking out more than diamonds.
Diamonds are more than the jewelry they get turned into.
They’re a physical representation of your feelings and memories. The
diamond band you make holds the smiles of your children as you celebrate your birthday.
Earrings have the power to transport you back to the moment you received them on your wedding day. That
diamond pendant is a little piece of you that gets to live on forever. When I’m picking out your diamond I see the way your face lights up when you see it for the first time. I feel the way her heart swells with love when you tell her you had this diamond hand-selected in Antwerp just for her. I hear the joy in your great-granddaughter's voice as she tells her children your love story. I don’t go to Antwerp for just diamonds. I go for what I get to bring home to you. My next Antwerp adventure begins on March 21st,
what can I bring home for you? Amie is a GIA Graduate Gemologist and has worked at Nelson Coleman since the summer of 2004. She lives to hand-select the very best diamonds to meet our customer’s expectations of quality and cost. Miss my first Antwerp Adventure?
